"I'm very optimistic. We managed to get by with only losing two birds. And we have had a great response from our donors. We are very focused," said Kelly Sorenson, executive director of the Ventana Wildlife Society, a non-profit that has freed condors in Big Sur since 1997."
Nonetheless, they still need donations to complete the fundraising effort.

Condor Health?
It is lead poisoning again - or - still. Is there lead in those bullets you are using?
" A study by University of California-Santa Cruz biologists links condor deaths to blood poisoning, and cites lead from bullets and shotgun pellets left in carcasses eaten by the condors as the main source. Condors, Burnett said, are particularly susceptible to lead poisoning. The sick bird, identified as Condor No. 336, was shaking and weak when found by Ventana Wildlife biologist Sayre Flannagan. "
Normal healthy condors weigh about 18-25 pounds but this 4 year old female weighed in at less than 11 pounds. That is tragic and hard to overcome.
